CAFE
Edson “Café“ da Silva, born in Vila Maria (Sao Paulo), Brazil and currently living in New York City, embodies the extraordinary rhythmic traditions and styles of Brazil. Café has performed and collaborated with Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Herbie Hancock, Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder, David Byrne, Paquito d’Rivera and many others. Café's original music beautifully captures a facet of Brazilian sentiment, "saudade:" a mixture of nostalgia, yearning, love and peace. "Gypsy Jazz & Brazilian" will include classes, discussions, meals, jamming, and public performances by Jason, Eugene and participants. Classes, meals and performances will take place in the historic Immanuel Episcopal Church (Stone Church) in the heart of Bellows Falls, Vermont. The church sanctuary is a magnificent space with warm acoustics and 9-foot Steinway grand piano. The former parsonage has been updated as The Immanuel Retreat Center, and has accommodations for a limited number of participants at very reasonable prices.
